The lobby has the
advertising budget.
We have the public record.
Regular Aussies Against Corruption is a small, independent research project. We exist because in April 2026 the gas industry's peak body launched a national advertising campaign making claims that are not supported by the documents the campaign itself cites. So we read the documents.
What this site is. What it is not.
Both lists are short. They are also non-negotiable.
- An independent research project run by Australian residents.
- Funded by volunteer time. Nothing else.
- An attempt to put primary documents back in front of readers.
- A counter-resource to australiarunsongas.com.au.
- Available for re-use under Creative Commons BY 4.0.
- Affiliated with any political party or candidate.
- Funded, sponsored or paid by any company or industry body.
- Affiliated with Australian Energy Producers, APPEA, or any gas company.
- A registered charity. We do not solicit donations.
- A news organisation. We are a public-record digest.
Six things this site will always do.
They are listed here because, in the absence of a regulator for advocacy websites, the only way to be held to a standard is to publish the standard.
- 01
Every figure links to a primary source.
If a number on this site is not backed by a public document — an ATO row, a Treasury paper, a peer-reviewed study — it is not on this site. We do not cite ourselves.
- 02
We do not paraphrase the lobby's claims.
We quote them in full and link to the original. The reader can verify that we have not strawmanned anything before they read our response.
- 03
Two readers per finding.
Every claim and finding on this site is read by two contributors — one drafting, one verifying — and signed off independently before publication.
- 04
Corrections inside 24 hours.
If we get something wrong and you can show us a primary source, we change it the same day, mark the page as updated, and log the change in the page footer.
- 05
No ad money. No corporate money.
Funded by volunteer time. Hosted on commodity infrastructure. No advertising, no sponsorship, no affiliate revenue, no paid placement. Ever.
- 06
Plain language. No "reform" euphemisms.
We say "the operator paid no tax," not "the operator's effective tax rate was nil under the prevailing regime." The first is what happened. The second is what the lobby calls it.
The eighteen institutions whose data this site is built on.
None of these organisations are affiliated with this site. They publish primary data and rigorous research; we cite it. If a finding on this site is not traceable to one of the documents these institutions have published, it doesn't belong here.
If we get something wrong, we want to know about it before you do.
Cite a primary source — an ATO record, a Treasury paper, a peer-reviewed study, an annual report — and we will update the page within 24 hours, mark it as corrected, and log the change in that page's footer. We hold ourselves to the same standard we ask of the lobby's site.
We will not change a figure on the basis of dispute alone. We will not retract a finding because of legal pressure if the finding is supported by the public record. We will not negotiate over what the documents say.
